The British School of Almería is an international primary and secondary school in Roquetas de Mar, Almería, Spain. It is open to children aged 3 to 18. For over ten years we have been offering the British and Spanish curricula as well as many IGCSE and A Level subjects, thus guaranteeing that our pupils have access to the best Spanish and international universities. We are the only school with the full British curriculum in the area, and our bus routes cover the areas around the city of Almería, Aguadulce and El Ejido.
Our educational method is governed by “Amazing Learning”: “Learning means improving academically, socially and emotionally. “Amazing learning” comes when pupils surprise themselves by improving and developing to a higher level than they thought they could.”
The British School of Almería highlights the individuality of each pupil. We support the child’s learning with a solid curriculum based on the pupil, and with enriching after-school activities. We tirelessly focus on each child’s capacity to amaze us. Whether through tutorials, enriching activities or personal study, The British School of Almería recognises and fosters the individual interests and talents of each pupil, so they can surprise themselves and inspire others.

INTERNATIONAL SCHOOLS PARTNERSHIP
Our school is part of the International Schools Partnership (ISP), a global group with 40 schools which offers us excellent educational contacts and guarantees exceptional quality and management.
We offer a wide range of after-school and sporting activities, special programmes such as the Science Club and Music School, and unique opportunities for our Secondary pupils like the Model United Nations and The ISP Buddy Exchange Programme.
Our students sit official GCSE (Secondary), A LEVEL (baccalaureate) and specific Spanish university entrance exams, all with excellent preparation from specialist teachers.
Our summer course offers true English immersion and is the perfect way to make new friends, take part in diverse activities and discover new cultures.
Our Music School is open to external pupils. We offer the opportunity to learn to play an instrument. We also have a school choir. Pupils can work to obtain qualifications such as the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) or Rock School certificates.
We are a truly inclusive school. Our children learn to love learning, and both pupils and teaching staff are welcoming, generating an atmosphere of mutual respect.
We offer British and Spanish curricula, as well as other languages such as French and German (from Year 7 to A Level). Our language school is open to pupils and the general public, offering top-quality English teaching from beginners to advanced level, and business English.
In the British education system, pre-school is called Foundation Stage, comprising two courses from pupils aged 3 and 4. This is a key stage for fostering a child’s capacity for learning and development, and the perfect time to start English in a natural way. We follow a fascinating British methodology where learning is active and dynamic, learning through exploring and playing.
Our Foundation Stage curriculum is divided into seven key areas, teaching children with a selection of carefully planned activities guided by the teacher, using a theme-based approach both in and outside the classroom. The curriculum focuses on the importance of play, and the child’s social and emotional development.
We use a curriculum based on themes for an interdisciplinary approach in which pupils can explore a new theme through different subjects: English, Mathematics, Science, Art, History, Geography, ICT, Music and Physical Education. And our Spanish Department strives to ensure that pupils meet all the learning requirements of the Spanish system in our Language and Social Science classes.
Our pupils also have the opportunity to broaden their knowledge of personal and social issues through PSHE (Personal, Social and Healthcare Education) and the assembly programme.
During Key Stage 3 (11 to 14 years), pupils study British curriculum subjects complemented with Spanish language and humanities. From Year 7 (11 years) they can also learn a third language, either French or German.
During Key Stage 4, they are prepared for external IGCSE exams, which they must pass at the end of Year 11. Pupils can choose different subjects based on their tastes, interests and talents. We also have a Personal, Social and Healthcare Education programme.
During the final two years (Key Stage 5), pupils prepare for their A LEVEL exams in their chosen subjects. This stage is equivalent to British and Spanish Baccalaureate. A baccalaureate renowned worldwide where pupils can focus on the subjects of interest for their future. We also have a complementary Spanish Studies programme in which pupils can prepare for the specific Spanish university entrance exam. This way, our baccalaureate opens the doors to both foreign and Spanish universities.
